Dreams

People often say that it is important to dare to dream. Actually, it is even more important to dare to pursue our dreams. Because if we do not pursue them, they are not dreams, we are just dreaming. =P

By the way, did you know that some people dream in full colours while others have dreams in greyscale only?

Death and Life

If Death and Life were part of a whole, then what are the chances of a person being alive?

Let's consider the possibilities:
There are one way, two ways, three ways, actually countless ways that a person can die i.e. ways to die = ∞
There is one way, hmmmm only one way a person can live that is to live (NB: ways to be alive and how you lead your life is different) i.e. ways to live = 1
Hence, chances of life = 1/(∞ + 1) = near zero!!!

Do you realise what this means? It means that mathematically speaking, the pure fact that each and every one of us being alive is a miracle on its own!!!

Yet how many of us really cherish life to be that precious and miraculous? I used to joke with my Secondary school friends, sometimes I wish that I would be diagnosed with a terminal illness that leaves me with little time in this world and then at the last minute miraculously recover so that I know how to live "properly" and not take so many things for granted.

The Butterfly Effect

Simplicity is not Simple.
Chaos is not Chaotic.

The flapping of a single butterfly's wing today produces a tiny change in the state of the atmosphere. Over a period of time, what the atmosphere actually does diverges from what it would have done. So, in a month's time, a tornado that would have devastated the Indonesian coast doesn't happen. Or maybe one that wasn't going to happen, does.

Simplicity

JOY

If this circle represents our lives, then there is one quarter of it that is pain and one quarter is joy. Some may ask why is half of it nothing, it is because these are the times when you wait for a bus to arrive and you don't exactly feel a lot of pain or joy waiting for the bus. This is also the time when you sleep where you kinda don't feel anything.



Then with this circle, people might say "I want someone to be able to take the pain away as shown in the next circle. But by then, most of us should realise that is impossible because no one can just come along and just "take the pain away".





But what we can do is not to forget about JOY. No one can just "take the pain away" but we can remind ourselves of the Joy we do have and we can proactively find more things to be joyful about. Then every night when you go to bed, you know that you still look forward to waking up tomorrow morning because there is more Joy in your life than Pain can wrestle with.
