人生真得很短暂,一定要珍惜眼前人。

Recap:

Kiddy's Theory about Probability of Life
Number of ways to be alive = 1
Number of ways to die = ∞
Number of ways to be alive or die = 1 + ∞ = ∞
P(Life) = Number of ways to be alive / Number of ways to be alive or die = 1 / ∞ = 0

Each and everyone of us who is still alive is a miracle!

So cherish! Cherish all the miracles around you!

  • Paiseh, but how come there is only 1 way to live? Please enlighten me on the way of life? :) I thought that just as there are many ways to die, there are many ways to live.
Thought that you made your theory with reference to a particular point in time, since prob. of living should decrease with age. Feel that we are actually playing a gamble with the death god at each instant we live. So the uncertainty is scary. A probability of 0.0001 doesn't mean that it can't happen. Also frightening is the fact that we may lack the means to communicate.
Not only life is short, life is so fragile too.

  • When I say "way to live", I didn't mean it the figurative way where people discuss how we should lead our lives. Instead I meant the literal meaning, in order to live, all the "factors" that keep you a "living person" must be present.

All the possible things that can happen to anyone at any point of time regardless of age is infinitely many. I agree that as we age, there is a higher chance that a part of our body will give way. But I ignored this variable because adding more possibilities to infinity is still infinity. *grinz*

Hence what I am illustrating here is that from a certain perspective, it isn't that "Life is a gamble", rather "Life is a miracle". Because the probability tells us that mathematically speaking, we should all be dead BUT we ain! We are alive!

Very often we take life for granted, ie we feel that we deserve to be alive (literal meaning). From this angle, we shouldn't be asking "Why must everyone die eventually?", we should be celebrating that "We are miraculously alive...every moment of it!"

We should celebrate and cherish life, not only because life is indeed short and fragile, life itself is a miracle!

  • Yes, I absolutely concur with what you said. :) Life IS a miracle. It is amazing too, with the colours, variety, hope and etc that it brings!

Well, similar to what you have in mind, I mean "way to live" in the literal meaning too, i.e. I treat it as a counting process. :) However, I thought that there are as many ways to live as to die (with exception of death due to ageing). For example, say that by taking route A, it leads to death. Then it also means that by not taking route A, it doesnt lead to death.

So, going by this rationale, does it mean that there are choices which I can make that can enable me to continue living? Of cos this is only in the hypothetical world. 'cos in the real world, I wouldn't know for sure what outcome my choice will lead to. And it is exactly the "not having certainty of the outcome" which seems to motivate the idea that we must cherish. Cherishing whatever that makes up the present moment in time... which attest to the fact that we are living, and before they become the regretful past!
