Compliments II

When was the last time you complimented somebody?
When was the last time somebody complimented you?
And what did you say to the somebody who complimented you?

That means a lot to me?
Smile?
I appreciate that?
I am flattered?
Thank you? 谢谢? Merci? Arigato gozaimasu?

There seems to be a lack of compliments going around, is it because people are so used to giving sarcastic compliments, they forgot how to give compliments sincerely?

But when there are sincere compliments, do people react appropraiately, do people realise the scarcity of it and hence appreciate and cherish them?

Laugh it off?
Yah man! I am the best. (But still laugh it off after)?
(Silence)?

Or maybe it's because compliments are so scarce, people no longer knows how to react to them?
